  • Rally to Save Our Public Transit

    Join Occupy Pittsburgh, Pittsburghers for Public Transit, the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85 and hundreds of other bus and train riders and fellow endorsing organizations to say NO to cuts, fare hikes, layoffs, and privatization of service. Our public transit system is facing a 35% cut in service due to insufficient funding -- that's half of all routes, most runs after 10pm, and 500+ jobs! We will gather at the corner of Stanwix Street and Fort Pitt Boulevard (in front of 11 Stanwix Street, aka "Westinghouse Tower")on Friday, June 8 at 3:00 to march and fight against the cuts and stand up for public transportation! We demand: * No service cuts, fare hikes, layoffs, or attacks on the transit workers' union
    * Restore transit service to March 2011 levels!
    * A guaranteed source of funding for public transportation!
